For several years, McAfee had planned to move their CRM database from DB2 on AIX to Oracle on Linux, but there was always too much risk associated with doing the migration. In an effort to ensure the highest performance of its CRM system, McAfee’s IT leadership team consulted with several consulting companies to determine the scope, costs, and associated risks of doing the migration. They also had a firm go-live date as the migration had to coincide with a new release of Siebel and if that date was missed, the next opportunity would be six months later.
