At Our Company Core is Performance Tuning/Optimization of Processes & SQL Queries.
Our approach to performance tuning starts by looking at the holistic view. We want to know if the performance issues are coming from the application tier. We look to see if the latency is caused by network configuration issues. We look for issues in an underlying storage layer. Another possibility is the VM for the database server could be misconfigured, or the OS was not set up for optimal performance. All of these can affect IOPS and throughput from the database server. We work closely with the infrastructure admins to diagnose performance bottlenecks in the entire stack.
- We also review the database schemas and the inter-relationships between the data elements. We review indexes, long-running queries, blocking locks, object statistics, and how much data is able to traverse through the stack.
- SQL tuning is where we thrive with our customers. We identify top resource-consuming SQL queries and work on driving down elapsed time and resource consumption one query at a time. Our approach is to attack the top 5 queries, tune them and attack the next top 5.
- We help our customers with their cloud spending analytics. We have written custom APIs to review cloud spending and deliver reporting capabilities. Our customers can recognize their TCO of cloud ownership and ROI on their cloud investment.
- We provide our customers the capability to auto-scale up and down their compute resources for effective cost containment. This creates a cost-effective cloud service which leads to repeat customer subscriptions.
