Upgrading 19c Non-CDB to 26ai? Don't Rebuild Your Standby!

October 13, 2026 | 11:00 AM CT

Starting with Oracle 21c, the non-CDB architecture is officially unsupported. If you want to move your workloads to Oracle 26ai, migrating to a Multitenant Container Database (CDB) architecture is no longer optional—it is a mandatory milestone.

While upgrading an existing CDB is straightforward, converting a 19c non-CDB introduces complex architectural challenges. The biggest headache? Most teams think they have to completely delete and rebuild their Data Guard standby databases from scratch, wasting massive amounts of time and network bandwidth.

It doesn't have to be that way.

Join us for this exclusive live webinar featuring Praveen Kumar Somisetty, a seasoned Oracle Database Administrator and Infrastructure Architect with over 20 years of enterprise experience. Specializing in high-availability systems and database automation, Praveen Kumar helps organizations eliminate manual migration risks through hands-on deployment of modern tools.

In this webinar, Praveen Kumar will demonstrate how to harness Oracle AutoUpgrade, the standard command-line tool that automates the entire upgrade lifecycle. You will learn how a single configuration file can drive automated pre-upgrade checks, execute hands-off upgrades, and perform post-upgrade validations.

Crucially, he will demonstrate how to successfully execute this transition to CDB while completely reusing your existing 19c standby database data files rather than rebuilding them from scratch.

Key Takeaways:
Mandatory Architecture Shift: Why the move to CDB is required for Oracle 26ai.
AutoUpgrade Automation: How a single configuration file manages pre-checks, upgrades, and post-validations.
Zero-Rebuild Standby: Step-by-step mechanics to preserve your physical standby files during the conversion to minimize downtime.
