BCBS of Michigan Virtualizes on VMware and Achieves Extreme Consolidation
Speakers: Viscosity’s CTO, Nitin Vengurlekar and Viscosity President, Charles Kim
At Visiant Health, the software-as-a-service branch of Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) of Michigan, the database tier was the final frontier to be virtualized. The main objective for BCBS virtualizing their Oracle/SQL Server databases onto VMware was to provide improved high availability, consolidation density, and elasticity/agility/standardization on a common platform. In this session, you will hear BCBS’s approach and strategy towards a “bigly” successful implementation. In addition, we will present key features/functionalities that every architect should know to successfully deploy business-critical databases on VMware. DBAs and VMware architects need to learn “under the covers” to ensure that databases perform optimally in the virtualized infrastructure.
